On the first ascent by Chris Reveley and George Hurley (July 5, 1987), a huge pine tree growing from the ground made the crux somewhat easier than it now is, and provided an unusual belay. The tree subsequently disappeared, and the route had to be reclimbed by Kris Hanson and George Hurley (November 4, 1987) at its present treeless grade.
Pitch 1: Climb MODERN MATURITY until below the left side of the biggest overhang. Make trapeze moves out under the roof to the right, then pull over the apex with difficulty and belay. 60', 5.10+
Pitch 2: Jam up the hand crack on the right. 60', 5.7
