Hi Folks,

As I will be away for 5 days over Christmas I figured I would get this brief Report out before I left. I want to take this opportunity to wish all of you and your families a most wonderful Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Winter Solstice or whatever holiday you choose to celebrate. My personal wish for each of you is for health, happiness, peace and some ice.

May we all see those in our lifetimes.
Ice Conditions Report:
Selected Ice Conditions effective December 6, 2025
COLD COLD COLD...and more on the way! 11 degrees Saturday morning at 9am! It's absolutely feeling like winter at last. The recent storm dropped about 8-9" of light stuff up here in the Valley. Fortunately it wasn't that difficult to snowplow and shovel thank goodness. I had to drive over to Portland Wednesday at 6am and quite surprisingly the roads were reasonably clear. Even in Maine! There was a lot more to our south and that it was heavy and wet. I am really quite optimistic about the upcoming ice season, so stay tuned folks.

When I began climbing, the rope symbolized trust. Sport climbing turned the rope into 60 meters of vague social contract. Ice and alpine routes reminded me why the rope is a sacred climbing icon; it signifies the unbreakable bond between partners.
