All I can say is that it was a good thing I had my Microspikes with me when I went up to take my pictures this morning. The places I get out of the car to get the right angle were like skating rinks. I would not have been able to walk around on the fields or roads! I can imagine that hiking up to any of the Frankenstein climbs or down the Willard or Webster trails would be brutal without them. FWIW I hate hiking long distances in full crampons, so having the MS in the bottom of my pack is a MUST!
Ice Conditions Report:
Selected Ice Conditions effective March 21, 2024
I can't actually say that there is nothing out there that can't be climbed. That would be foolish. But for the average, or a little above average climber, that's probably correct. That said, I did hear that there is climbable ice on Parasol in Dixville Notch. Not sure how that will be after we get a foot of heavy wet snow on Saturday. Regardless, here's a few pix I took today just to document things.

VALLEY CYCLING:
Just like needing crampons or Microspikes to get around in the woods, you're going to need studded tires to get around most places on your bike. Shall we say that it's firm but slick almost everywhere right now.

The White Mountain Report
North Conway, New Hampshire
I was once bouldering in solitude in the Needles, when a young female walked up and introduced herself and asked who I was. I told her and continued bouldering. She turned and walked away after a few minutes, saying over her shoulder: 'you can't be John Gill. He climbs much better than that'.
Climbing is a very dangerous sport. You can get hurt or even kill yourself. When you go climbing, you do so of your own free will. Everything on this site is to be taken with a grain of salt. Don't blame us if you get up some totally heinous route, in over your head and fall and hurt yourself.
