From one extreme to the other... SHEESH! Climbing last Friday on Whitehorse in shorts and t-shirt, yesterday in t-shirt on Mt Forist in Berlin and then today waiting for a nor'easter to arrive, bringing somewhere between 4-6" in the Valley and possibly much more in the higher elevations. I don't even know what to say...
Mt Forist on Wednesday with Matt Bowman. The cliff was totally dry everywhere we looked. We got in 2 nice pitches after cutting down a tree that had fallen over the start to Skaty Cat.
DROUGHT:
Even tho we're getting some snow/rain/mix tonight and tomorrow, everything is VERY dry. Please be very careful with your fires or any flammable materials.
RESCUE:
I find this "rescue" to be completely stupid. What do you think?

SOME LOCAL/NATIONAL PANDEMIC THOUGHTS:
I am completely aghast that our Governor is not going to renew the Mask Mandate in New Hampshire! The Numbers have been rising in the state over the past month and this is NOT the time to let off the work we have been doing. Sununu has been getting a lot of pressure from other Republicans in the state legislature to fully open back up and do away with any mandates. In fact they have been threatening to impeach him and take away his emergency authorizations! In addition he is going to run for senator against Democrat Maggie Hassan. I can only hope that businesses in the state will continue to require masks, as they are allowed to do. If you visit in the Valley, please wear a mask to protect yourself and others. It's the right thing to do IMO. We do not want to have to return to a shut down. Hell, I just want to get back to playing music again.
I find JHU's Daily COVID-19 Data in Motion report to be very informative. It shares critical data on COVID-19 from the last 24 hours in a short 1 minute animated video format.
WEAR A MASK, SANITIZE AND STAY PHYSICALLY DISTANT FRIENDS!
REMEMBER - WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER
VALLEY CYCLING:
Up to this point the trails have been really quite good, other than some trees down. I rode the east side Sticks & Stones, Pillar To Pond, Spring, Old Sidehill, Sidehill, EKG and The Knot recently and they were generally pretty good. There was some mud near the bridges on P2P and a pretty muddy spot on Spring. The west side trails are generally good as well. Marshall is overall good except for the back side of Lucille's. The Electric Loop was surprisingly good, with mud only on the places it usually is. There were a lot of trees down on the Ultimate Single Track, and until they are all removed I don't think it's worth riding and I just saw a picture of a large tree down on the High School Trail. If we get as much heavy wet snow as predicted there will be more trees down, not to mention a lot more mud. So be prepared to haul out the road bike again.

The hype pretended that M7, or 8, or 12 for that matter, had never before been climbed un thil the current practitioners rap bolted some overhanging choss heap, rehersed it, climbed it, did photo shoots on it, and treated it as commerce.
Climbing is a very dangerous sport. You can get hurt or even kill yourself. When you go climbing, you do so of your own free will. Everything on this site is to be taken with a grain of salt. Don't blame us if you get up some totally heinous route, in over your head and fall and hurt yourself.
