Up here in the hinterlands we dodged the bullet from Henri and just got heavy rain. Considering how much rain we've been getting all summer, it wasn't all that bad. I have a recording session at a studio down in Pittsfield today, have been practicing pretty incessantly, with short breaks out on the bike, and tho I was up at 5 AM I don't have time to write anything much for today. Sorry 'bout that. I'm just leaving you with a few notes and the upcoming weather, which hopefully will cool down a bit. Have a great weekend.

SOME LOCAL/NATIONAL PANDEMIC THOUGHTS:
I was really hoping that by this time I would have mostly dropped this piece of reporting. Unfortunately, for all the reasons you all know, that hasn't been the case. And with the Delta variant 98% of the tested cases and only 52% of the US population fully vaccinated, it's not at all clear when we will get out of this situation! I can rant about it, but that doesn't seem to do any good. I'm happy that the Pfizer vaccine has been fully FDA approved and that federal government employees and the military are being required to get vaccinated. It's about time! The numbers don't lie, so please stay safe peeps...

I find JHU's Daily COVID-19 Data in Motion report to be very informative. It shares critical data on COVID-19 from the last 24 hours in a short 1 minute animated video format.
OUR ONLY WAY OUT IS IF YOU GET VACCINATED, WHERE RECOMMENDED PLEASE STILL WEAR A MASK, WASH YOUR HANDS!

VALLEY CYCLING:
I don't know who put it there, or who's paying for it, but I'm very glad that there is porta-potty at the Marshall Trails parking lot. Things were getting to be a real mess in the woods around there, not unlike what it was like before the ones went in at the base of Cathedral Ledge and at the top turn-around. Even with those, people still make a mess. But it's a LOT better!
Mobile Version Of NEClimbs:
Up on one of the Mount Washington Valley's finest crags and want to know what that climb you're looking at is? Or maybe you're on your way up from Boston and want to check out the Ice Report for your upcoming weekend plans. Or more likely, you're at work just want to daydream about your next adventure. Well if you have a smart phone handy, you can get to NEClimbs from anywhere you have cell service. While it doesn't offer every single feature of the site and it's not an "app", in mobile form, it does do a whole lot and is very useful. Here is the live link to the mobile version of NEClimbs:
Check it out and if you have issues on your specific phone, please feel free to let me know.

I had the unique experience the next day: placing sixteen bolts in a row. It was just blank and there was no way around. But it was a route worth bolting for, and after a time I began to take an almost perverse joy in it, or at least in doing a good job.
Climbing is a very dangerous sport. You can get hurt or even kill yourself. When you go climbing, you do so of your own free will. Everything on this site is to be taken with a grain of salt. Don't blame us if you get up some totally heinous route, in over your head and fall and hurt yourself.
