Last week I said we were into 6 rainy weekends. Then this morning the weather pundit said after this weekend we will be on 11th consecutive weekends of rain! I truly don't know which is accurate, but I do know that it's a LOT! It’s basically been Monday thru Wednesday is nice, Thursday & Friday cloudy & possible showers, Saturday and Sunday rain, Rinse Repeat. Sure it's OK for us local retired folks, not so much for working stiffs & visitors. [sheesh] Two positives - the rain cleans out the pollen and we are no longer in drought!
INCIDENT HOPEFULLY FINALE:
FWIW After the bike crackup, a week from last Friday, I’m doing good. The stitches came out on Tuesday, replaced with the ubiquitous Steri-Strips, a package of which are now in both the Camelback and climbing pack. I'm still on antibiotics till Tuesday [and yes that was a good Boston Band LOL] and I have hopefully the last follow up next week. I did some light yard work yesterday, mulching & planting, and some more today. My gig at Tuckerman last Saturday went VERY well, and I have another this Saturday. Dr said the hand would be tired, and she was correct. I have been riding the mountain bike around the roads in the neighborhood this week. Thanks to those who reached out and YES, I am very fortunate that it’s all working out. I can't wait to climb and do some single track again.
Ice Conditions Report:
Selected Ice Conditions effective December 19, 2025
Friday December 19 at 3:40 - it's 52 degrees and raining1 Almost all of the snow is already off my roof. It's supposed to go below freezing overnight, but get back above 32 during Saturday. You may want to seriously consider giving things a few days to recover. Just sayin...

I don't know how long it will last, but several friends have been up on Mt Washington for spring skiing. The Mountain got a big dump of snow last weekend. Enough for them to break out the snow removal tools again. Go figure... Shucks, with the weather predicted it may even do the same this coming weekend. Stay tuned.
MUSICAL NOTES:
I'll be at the Majestic Cafe this Saturday with a great trio featuring Jim McLaughlin on piano & vocals and Craig Bryan on drums. This is NOT a jazz gig and we will be exploring some classic rock and funk tunes in a different configuration. As always it's 7-9pm.
And a heads up that I will be part of an all-star lineup with blues masters Jon Butcher and Diane Blue at the Wildcat Tavern on June 12th. This one will be a real blast. Tickets are available on line.
If you're interested you can always see my schedule here:
VALLEY CYCLING:
Obviously I haven't been riding, but my understanding is that the single track is in excellent shape right now. AND the Mt Cranmore Bike Park is open!
Mobile Version Of NEClimbs:

During the qualifying round I heard the contestant ahead of me introduced: 'Hardest redpoint: 5.14b, hardest on-sight: 5.13c' (Geoff Weigand). The contestant after me: 'Hardest redpoint: K2' (Greg Child).
Climbing is a very dangerous sport. You can get hurt or even kill yourself. When you go climbing, you do so of your own free will. Everything on this site is to be taken with a grain of salt. Don't blame us if you get up some totally heinous route, in over your head and fall and hurt yourself.
