Climbing Area Index / Ethan Pond / Mt. Willey / Stuck on Haley's Pillar (WI 4 IV)
Directions:  From Three Ravens Gully continue down and right around a large rock slab and up thru small trees to another ampitheater.
Description: Start over several bulges. Climb a 20' vertical flow to a steep 35' pillar and then on to the trees. The name came from the tribulations of the first ascent. Haley is Larry's granddaughter.

At the base of the pillar Larry placed a screw. When he started up, the rope was frozen. After a couple of pulls it broke loose. Before he pulled over the top of the pillar he tried to place another screw but couldn't get it started. When he tried to pull over the top the rope had froze again and he couldn't get it loose. He was stuck on Haley's Pillar. Fortunately after 3 hard pulls by Jon, almost pulling him off, the rope broke loose and he continued up to the trees.
Gear: standard ice rack
Descent: rappel the route
History:  December 13,2003 - Larry Boehmler & Jon Sykes
