Ice Routes at Texaco Slab & Amphitheater: grouped by Area, sorted by Name
Description: Nice ice climbing in a pleasant location. Generally not as crowded as Frankenstein. The Slab area is really moderate and the Amphitheater has a variety of moderate to hard climbs. The nice thing about the Amphitheater is that it is sunny and generally sheltered from the wind.
Directions: Drive up 302 into Crawford Notch from North Conway, about 6 miles form Bartlett. Park at the Davis Path parking lot on the right side of the road. Cross the Saco on a small suspension bridge, turn left and follow the river. Look for the Amphitheater crag uphill on your right. Continue along the river several hundred yards untill you can see the slab, again uphill on your right. Usually there are trailes beaten-out to both areas.
