Frankenstein Amphitheater panorama
Description: Some of the best ice climbing in New England is an easy walk down the railroad tracks. A very popular ice climbing destination. In addition there is some rock climbing as well, tho it is generally not on the same parts of the cliff where we ice climb and the rock is in general of questionable quality.
Directions: From North Conway drive 40 minutes north on Rt. 302 to Arethusa Falls. From the north drive through Crawford Notch and 10 minutes south to Arethusa Falls. Park in the lot or along the road that goes to the house at the Falls trailhead. Walk north along the tracks and look around.

NOTE: in the summer these tracks are part of an active railroad, the Conway Scenic RR! Be aware...
