NEClimbs - information for New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont rock and ice climbers
IceCON 1. Climbs just coming in or only in upper elevations like Ravines.
1 out of a possible 5
Climbing Area Index / Mt Oscar (SW face) / Circling Scavengers (5.7)
Directions:  Start 100' left of Vultures Express, at a flared finger crack through an overlap.
Description: Use caution near the top of this route: there are many boulders that could be dislodged by a wrong step.
Pitch 1: Climb the flared finger crack until it ends, then slab climb up to an overlap. Step up over the overlap at a dinner-plate sized depression, then slab climb up to the next overlap. Place gear then head left to where a new crack starts just above the overlap. A tricky mantle (5.7) move leads to easier climbing straight up the crack to the anchor.

Pitch 2: Step left and climb up to an overlap at a short right-facing corner. Place gear, then step up and left over the overlap. Continue diagonally up and left to the anchor.

Gear: Standard rack
Descent: Scramble up, working your way slowly to the right to the top of Mount Oscar. Descend the hiking trail as for routes on the main face.
